NCLC-MCA National Folk Dance Competition Held Successfully

With the purpose of revealing distinct talents of the students, the National Christian Life College (NCLC) – Maranatha Christian Academy (MCA) National Folk Dance Competition was successfully held last February 18, at the NCLC Auditorium, Marikina City.

Participants from Chapters of Bay, Pasig, Los Baños, Sta. Cruz, Blue Isle, and Dau, competed in Category B with the song piece, “Estudyantina” while participants from Chapters of Cabuyao, Manila, Camarin, Marikina, Makati, and Novaliches competed in Category A with the song piece, “Polka Bal”.

There were four pairs in every group in Category B and six pairs in Category A.

All of the judges for the competition were dance instructors, namely Mr. Omar Ampsa, Ms. Ma. Cristina Cataleya, and Mr. Ronald Vincent Soliben.

Different strategies were used by the contenders in order to win the competition – discipline, time management, practice, cooperation, perseverance, and obedience to their trainers.

Sta. Cruz Chapter wins the Best in Costume in Category B with Blue Isle and Bay as 2nd and 3rd respectively. In Category A, Marikina got the Best in Costume, while Makati and Manila got 2nd and 3rd.

For the final ranking in Category A, Marikina got the 1st place with the average of 96%, Makati got 2nd place with 89.97% average, and 89.6% for Manila in the 3rd place.

In Category B, with the average of 92, Sta. Cruz got the 1st place, Bay Laguna got 2nd place with 88.57%, and for the 3rd place, Blue Isle have an average of 87.4%.

One of the judges, Mr. Soliben said, “Basing on the criteria, each team’s distinct creativity played a great role in winning the contest”.
